Students continue to demonstrate at Syracuse University following a video showing members of the Theta Tau Fraternity engaging in racist and homophobic behavior.

Many started their day in the Schine Student Center Friday, expressing their outrage and frustration.

They then marched to the Carrier Dome, trying to get their message out to the University and also to recently-admitted students visiting the campus. Other forums were held by different departments in the school. At the Maxwell school, students were able to express their concerns to the dean.

Chancellor Kent Syverud sent a university-wide email statement calling the behavior in the video "unacceptable" and outlining other next steps. Some students say they want to see more action.

"I'm tired of begging for change and not seeing it. And I'm here because I want to contribute in any way I can to bringing about change to this campus,” said Liz Mina.

Students also called on the Chancellor to attend some of these demonstrations and forums.

The Syracuse chapter of Theta Tau addressed the video in a statement posted to their website.

The group apologized to the community, saying the video was recorded as part of a new member process. They claim that the skit was written by new members to roast older members, specifically one who is a conservative Republican. Members say their house has a "no tolerance" policy for troubling and offensive behavior, and they're ashamed that this is the first time so many people are hearing of them.

The statement reads in part, “We want to let everyone on our campus know that we are truly sorry, and that nothing like this will ever again be tolerated. Not in private, not as part of a joke—not ever.

“We cannot apologize enough for the pain, sadness and fear that this has caused."

Members say they are committed to opening a dialogue with the community and helping marginalized groups have power and a voice.
