Students at Fayetteville-Manlius High School got a first-hand look at the dangers of drunk driving.

The Manlius Fire Department gave an outdoor presentation called 'Every 15 Minutes.'

Students were removed from class, one by one, every 15 minutes to symbolize someone dying in a crash.

First responders then went through a crash scenario, conducting a mock sobriety test and taking the driver into custody.

"We try to make it as realistic as possible,” said Manlius Fire Department Lt. Chris Halliday. “We want the kids to see what really happens in a car accident and for our victims to have a good understanding of what it's like to be cut out of a car and to have a serious accident happen."

Students also learned about the dangers of distracted driving.
