SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse business owners and residents joined forces to discuss the growth of downtown Syracuse.

The 'Progress Breakfast' was held at SKY Armory Thursday.

It had the largest turnout in the event's history, drawing 290 guests.

Guest speakers included Mayor Ben Walsh, Samara Hannah of the Redhouse Art Center, and OBG CEO Jim Fox.

They're reflecting on their experiences in Downtown Syracuse, and discussing how activities and investments happening in the city's Downtown influence the region.

"There has been significant growth in downtown Syracuse,” said Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc. Executive Director Merike Treier. “What we want to focus on is being able to bring some of that growth and sort of blur the edges of the downtown district, be able to bring some of that growth and some of those success stories out into our neighboring neighborhoods."

At the breakfast, the downtown committee also announced an upcoming Employee Appreciation week in September.
