CONQUEST, N.Y. -- A quick response by firefighters helped save a home in Cayuga County from burning down Monday night.

Multiple fire crews were called to the scene of a garage fire just before 8 p.m. along River Road in the town of Conquest.

The large, two-car garage was destroyed, but firefighters were able to mostly contain the fire.

"It was a good size fire, the wind was coming out of the east side so it was really fortunate we were able to save the house because it was so close to the garage,” said Conquest Fire Chief James Burke.

Luckily everyone was able to make it out, and no one was hurt.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
