Syracuse football has lost one of its stars, and most vocal supporters.
Chris Gedney died at the age of 47 Friday.
Gedney was tight end for the Orange that played in the Fiesta Bowl. The Liverpool High School grad spent seven years in the NFL.
After his playing days were over he started a career in broadcasting, which eventually brought him back home to SU.
He has been one of the voices for Orange football for the last several years. Gedney also worked to raise money for the Syracuse athletic department.
Syracuse University released a statement saying, "Chris was a wonderful co-worker, a friend to all and deeply loyal to Syracuse University and our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gedney family during this difficult time."
