A Utica man accused of killing his girlfriend's baby in January pleaded not guilty in court Monday.
Jason Nieves, 20, is accused of causing the death of 7-month-old Emelina Sanchez.
Court documents say he hit the child's head against a door frame when he couldn't stop her from crying.
He's charged with second-degree murder, and first and second-degree manslaughter.
The Oneida County District Attorney's Office has made a plea offer, but there's no deal in place at this time.
Nieves is scheduled to be back in Oneida County Court on March 19.
