As soon as it starts falling, many of us can only think about getting rid of it. The Mohawk Valley was hit with a lot of snow on Friday. Plows, snow blowers and shovels were out in full-force. But if you use that last option, Melissa Krull explains why you'll want to take it easy in the video above.

If you have to shovel, American Heart Association members say:

• Go slow

• Take breaks

• Don't eat a big meal before or soon after shoveling

• Do not drink alcohol before or immediately after shoveling

• Don't lift too much at once
