The fluctuating temperatures this week are causing some concern for areas prone to flooding.

In Oneida County, although officials said they haven't seen flooding yet, they're monitoring the Sylvan Beach area.

They are working with multiple agencies like the National Weather Service and DPW.

And -- the major problem being addressed is the buildup of ice in waterways.

"The ice jams out there in the beach are primarily caused because of the change in temperatures we've had this winter," said Oneida County Director of Emergency Services Kevin Revere. "It's been really unusual very warm and then very cold and then back and forth like that."

If flooding does occur, first responders are ready to take action and will have a shelter set up if necessary.
