A confrontation with a suspect Thursday night in Salina led an Onondaga County Sheriff's deputy to fire their weapon.

The sheriff's office reports that deputies responded to a call of an emotionally disturbed person in the 100 block of Traister Drive in the town. The first responding deputy was attacked by the suspect, according to a press release, and that deputy fired a single shot before additional units responded to subdue the suspect.

The name of the deputy who fired the weapon has not yet been made available. Another deputy was injured in the struggle with the suspect. Two subjects in the residence have possible charges pending against them, per the sheriff's office.
