A sixth person has now been arrested and charged in a homicide in Syracuse last December.

Michael Smyre, 25, is the latest to be linked to the death of James Smith Jr.

The 33-year-old was shot inside his Merriman Avenue home in the early morning hours of December 12.

Police say a group of young men forcibly entered the home around 1 a.m., and shot Smith in the hip during a confrontation.

Smith died shortly after he was taken to the hospital.

The suspects range in age from 15 to 25.  The 15-year-old is not being identified because of his age. But all of the suspects are charged with second-degree murder and first-degree burglary.

Anyone with more information about the case is asked to call police.
