COLD BROOK, N.Y. -- The family of a 6-year-old Herkimer County girl battling stage 3 kidney cancer is asking for the community's support.

Caidence Morrison was diagnosed last month with a Wilms tumor that affects 80 percent of her kidney. She's begun chemotherapy to shrink the tumor and stop the cancer before removing the affected kidney. A benefit is being held on Saturday at the Cold Brook American Legion, on 529 Main Street, to help with medical expenses.

The benefit runs from 2-6 p.m.

Caidence's father says he's thankful for the support the community has already shown.

"It's amazing how great people can be when such a situation hits you, such a devastating situation," Jesse Morrison said. "You don't realize how much help and support you do have out there, so we greatly appreciate everything that everybody has done for us."

Tickets for the benefit are $15 per person, $25 per couple, $7 for kids ages 13 and younger, and free for kids ages five and younger. For more information about Caidence or to donate, click this link.
