A board member with the town of Middletown was killed in a farming accident in Margretville Friday morning.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office says 42-year-old Jake Rosa, of Arkville was sitting on a tractor that was being towed, when a wheel fell off, causing the tractor to fall off an embankment and flip over on top of him.

Investigators say the tractor was not running at the time, but it did not have tire chains or rollover protection equipment.

The sheriff's office is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

They say Rosa was a well-known and respected community member.

He was just re-elected to his position on the Middletown Town Board last November.
