JACKSONVILLE, N.C. -- Authorities have positively identified the body of a 3-year-old girl who was reported missing from her home 10 days ago.

The news comes on the day the community was coming together for a visitation for the child.

Meanwhile, the entire community is mourning the loss of Mariah Woods.

At Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville, a public visitation was held and many people went to say goodbye.

Saturday, a dive team discovered her body. The Onslow County Sheriffs Office says the autopsy is complete but lab results are still pending. Search warrants and 911 calls are sealed.

Thirty-two-year old Earl Kimrey, the live in boyfriend of Mariah's mother, made his first appearance in Onslow County court Monday in connection with the death of the child.

He is charged with concealing death among other charges.

Since Saturday, the memorial for Mariah along Dawson Cabin Road continues to grow with teddy bears and flowers. Community members her loss has left them heartbroken.

"I guess there's a lot of emotions going on sadness, you know why, just things like that,” family friend Pam Brewer said.

"it's very heartbreaking for any family to go through this.  I would hope the community would come together for anyone and that's why we’re here to come together for them," Jacksonville resident Dominique Woods said.

There will be other services for little Mariah Woods but those will be kept private for the family.

People are welcome to visit her memorial site and contribute to the Mariah Woods fund at First National Bank in Jacksonville.
