Six adults have been displaced from their apartments after a fire in Utica early Tuesday morning.

Utica fire crews were called to the scene of a fire on the 1400 block of Catherine Street.

They encountered heavy smoke coming from the third floor apartment. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in under an hour.

National Grid was forced to cut utilities to the building.

The Red Cross is assisting the families that were affected

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
