SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Families gathered in Clinton Square Friday evening for the "Home for the Holidays" celebration.

They were definitely in the holiday spirit -- with plenty of people cheering as the 60-foot pine tree lit the area.

Those in attendance also had a chance to take photos with Santa and go ice skating.

One father says he can already tell that this is going to be a family tradition.

"We decided this was going to be our first time coming and we're really excited. We got great weather for the event, and so we came out and it's been a blast so far," said Matt Lochner.

This year's tree was donated by the North Syracuse Central School District.
