Allegations of sexual misconduct by well-known figures continue to come out on the national level. While disturbing, those revelations could be giving more victims the strength to come forward.

According to YWCA Mohawk Valley members, the allegations and the explosion of the "Me Too" campaign are resulting in just that. They say more women are having one-on-one disclosures with YWCA members, and there has been an increase in social media interaction.

Chief Executive Officer Dianne Stancato said having the national spotlight put on these issues empowers women and discourages sexual misconduct.

"These powerful people are losing their jobs because of things that they've done that have been swept under the rug for years and years. So it's sort of a wake-up call, I think, to anyone that is on the other side of it who is actually perpetuating that bad behavior," Stancato said.
