OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Oswego commuters are now finally able to hit the road again on State Route 48.

After part of the road collapsed into the Oswego River in February 2016, the city decided it was time for some serious repairs.  That erosion prompted city officials to get on board with a $1.7 million renovation project. But the reason it took so long to repair was due to coordinating with state and federal funding.

esidents who live around the detour say it was a bit frustrating at times, but worth the wait. With the ground now covered with snow, residents and officials alike say the timing couldn't be better.

Beyond the repairs, the city has also added some sidewalks to make things safer for pedestrians, and landscaping is planned for the spring.
