SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Hundreds turned out for an annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway.

River of Life Church in Syracuse started their giveaway at 9 a.m. Saturday, but organizers say people were lined up since the night before.

This is the 13th year of the popular turkey giveaway.

Proceeds to buy the turkeys for people in need come from church members as well as other local community organizations.

The Pastor says they're happy to help others enjoy the holiday.

"We pulled in my wife and I and it started very early and its very long," Danny Thornton, River of Life Church Pastor said. "It's very sad that people have to do that, I'm thankful I don't have too. And they are very good humored even though its freezing."

And because of that cold weather, the church also handed out umbrellas and blankets to those waiting in line.
