SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Firefighters struggled to put out a fire at a Syracuse home due to rainy and windy conditions Sunday night.

Crews were called to the scene on Midland Avenue just before 5 p.m. When they arrived they found a fire in the basement.

Officials say the three people inside of the home were all able to get out on their own, and nobody was injured.

They say the fire was somewhat difficult to put out because of the weather.

"To keep the guys out of the smoke and to get them into the building... so the weather like this -- a good evening this evening -- but the wind does present a challenge, you know. It does spread the fire,” said Syracuse Fire Deputy Chief Elton Davis.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
