A third dose of the mumps vaccine will now be offered to Syracuse University students.

Local and state health officials joined university representatives to provide an update Monday. The university now has 27 confirmed cases and 47 probable cases of mumps.

There are also two people diagnosed outside the university. One of those cases is linked to a student, the other is not.

The vaccine will first go to student athletes, in whom the cases were first seen on campus. Then they will go to the rest of the undergraduate population.
