It's a victory for the city of Cortland, the latest winner in the Downtown Revitalization Initiative.

Cortland will receive $10 million to revitalize the downtown area. With the grant, the city plans to make its dowtown more walkable, attract more visitors and businesses by upgrading Main Street and improve downtown housing and parking.

Cortland Mayor Brian Tobin says the grant will go a long way in helping to make the downtown area a downtown for everyone.

"We have seen and we are seeing development already, but our efforts combined with this DRI award have placed Cortland on the verge of greater success," Tobin said, "and we recognize this award as a step, a giant step. But it is one step, and we're going to continue to make these steps to improve our community."

Cortland now joins several other municipalities like Oswego, Watertown and Watkins Glen as winners of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
