SKANEATELES, N.Y. -- Experts are giving Skaneateles residents a chance to learn about the blue-green algae blooms that continue to affect the lake.

Many residents attended a panel Wednesday where they were given a crash course about the issue.

Experts discussed what is causing the algae blooms this year and what can be done to limit them in the future.

One resident says he's seen a problem developing for several years.

"I do have concerns about the lake because I've seen a little degrading of the water quality, I believe over time it has," said Mark Tucker, a Skaneateles farmer.

Science experts still advise avoiding areas where you can see blooms, but are confident that the algae is starting to die off.
