SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- State and Onondaga County health officials have confirmed the drinking water from Skaneateles Lake is still safe. The announcement comes after another round of testing.

There has been concern about blue-green algae blooms on the lake impacting the drinking water for several communities, including Syracuse. The newest round of testing once again showed water in the acceptable range by EPA standards.

In the Skaneateles school district Wednesday, drinking water was turned off and bottled water was given to students and staff while testing continued. And while officials say it's still safe to drink, they will continue to test it.

"We're not at all going to be complacent. We're working at all levels to put in place a daily monitoring plan to collect additional samples and have them tested at Wadworth so we can continue to monitor the levels," said Brad Hutton.

Health officials still urge everyone not to swim or wade near algae, or drink water directly from the lake.
