United Airlines is upgrading its service at Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport due to increased demand.
The carrier plans to replace its existing 37 seat turboprop planes with 50 seat jets.
Officials say the jets offer a smoother ride and make it easier for pilots to avoid turbulent weather at lower altitudes.
United will make the switch starting this October.
The airport will then have an all-jet service to each of its three hubs, in Philadelphia, Newark, and Detroit.
