Senator Chuck Schumer was in Lowville, pledging to protect federal farm safety programs.

Schumer says he will continue to advocate for programs like the Rollover Bar Rebate Program, saying he will fight against any potential cuts pushed by Congress.

The senator says he will try to preserve funding for organizations that administer programs like ROPS. The program provides information to farmers on how to install the proper rollover bar on their machinery.

ROPS also reimburses up to 70 percent of the costs for farmers to install the rollover bar.
