We're diving deeper into the criminal background of Justin Walters. He's the Fort Drum soldier accused of shooting and killing his wife Nichole Walters and State Trooper Joel Davis on Sunday in Theresa. Corina Cappabianca takes a look at documents released from Walters' home state of Michigan.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. –- Before Justin Walters set foot in Le Ray Town Court, he had a history of charges from his days as a middle school student in Michigan.

His juvenile case file from Ottawa County Family Court details a count for conspiring with another person to carry a concealed weapon. According to MLive.com, the two planned to shoot and kill people at a middle school in Holland in 1999.

He also received a count for possession of marijuana. Walters pleaded guilty on both counts and was told to complete a psychological evaluation.

But that's not all. In a separate incident that year, he faced counts for taking and driving away with someone's automobile, or assisting to do so, and maliciously destroying or injuring a vehicle to the tune of $1,000 to $20,000.

According to the documents, Walters also destroyed tombstones and maliciously caused damage at a church.

Other charges in Michigan included ethnic intimidation and probation violations.
