SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A two-year-old is dead after being hit by a car in the 400 block of Shonnard Street shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday.

Police say a gold Honda Accord was heading west when the driver lost control, hitting two-year-old Jameisha Stanford and one-year-old James Stanford Jr. as well as an adult, James Stanford, who were walking on the sidewalk.

The driver then left the scene.

The suspect's vehicle was later found empty on Gifford Street.

All three victims were taken to University Hospital — Jameisha Stanford later died from her injuries.

Meanwhile, the injuries of the other two victims appear non-life threatening.

Officials are still looking for the suspect who was driving the car.

He has been described as a Hispanic male in his twenties, approximately 5’9” tall and wearing all black clothing.
