SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The U.S. air strike on a Syrian air base has the world and national security experts talking, and it's one professor Bill Smullen says was meant to prove a point.

"I think that we had a responsibility to send a message to President (Bashar al-) Assad that you have got to stop and oh, by the way, he committed a war crime because this was an agreement he would not use of store chemical weapons, so he is in violation of an international agreement," said Smullen, director of National Security Studies at Syracuse University.
