Last year's drought had a major impact across the state, but experts say they don't expect to see any lasting effects.

Dr. Todd Walter, a professor at Cornell University, studied the drought and talked about his findings in Depauville this weekend.

He found it was worse for Jefferson County than originally reported, but this upcoming summer may be very different because of the amount of rain and flooding so far this year.

Dr. Walter says he is collecting water level data to get a better idea of how the rain is affecting the region. He's asking anyone who is keeping personal track of water levels to reach out to him via email at mtw5@cornell.edu.
