SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse firefighter Ted Ackerman was arraigned in Syracuse City Court Friday morning.

Ackerman is charged with a felony count of tampering with physical evidence and he was taken into custody.

The charge is in connection with his role in a hit-and-run incident along North Salina Street last month that killed 18-year-old Seth Collier. Sources say that Ackerman was following former Onondaga County District Attorney investigator Peter Rauch at the time of the incident and saw the crash happen.

Ackerman's bail was set at $10,000. According to the sheriff's office, he made bail and was discharged at 1:50 p.m.

Meanwhile, Rauch still faces a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. Police have spoken with restaurant owners in the area who say Rauch was drinking on the night of the crash.

His case will be reviewed by a grand jury.
