SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Some Syracuse Common Councilors show their support for raising the minimum wage for city employees.

Last week, Mayor Stephanie Miner announced she will raise the wage for all full-time city workers to $15 per hour.

Several council members introduced a resolution Monday, supporting the decision.

"What we have said, effectively, is we don't believe people who work full time should live in poverty, and this is one way that we can ensure we can put our beliefs and actually take an act that is consistent with those beliefs," Miner said.

The raise was effective as of last Wednesday.
