SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: Election Day goes beyond just the candidates — instead, it's about making a choice, any choice at all. Assemblywoman Pam Hunter shares her thoughts about why it is so important to get out and vote.

People expect this mid-term election to have a much higher turnout than most, and Hunter says voting allows one’s voice to be heard, and that it is a way for people to advocate for themselves in the voting booth.

The assemblywoman encourages voters to be knowledgeable about who the candidates in their district are and what they stand for. Understanding the causes they stand behind translates when it comes to Election Day.

In other places, elections are held on the weekend when fewer people are at work. The assemblywoman agrees that early voting in New York state would enable people to participate in their civic duty outside the confines of 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
