SPECTRUM NEWS VIDEO: Assemblyman Al Stirpe discusses the need for blood donations with a blood drive coming up that he has hosted since assuming office. Stirpe says every 2 seconds an American needs blood, but just 3 percent of the population donates. However, Stirpe says, that number only needs to increase to 5 percent to avoid blood shortages. For this year's drive, the assemblyman is hoping to get 200 pints of blood donated. The event takes place at 11 a.m. on July 17 at Driver's Village. In Focus is a weekly public affairs segment airing each Sunday throughout news programming, exclusively on Spectrum News.
