An Otsego County man is accused of holding others hostage, prompting a lockdown at a nearby school.

State troopers responded to a home on Main Street in Worcester around 2:15 Monday afternoon. They say 20-year-old Edgar Gonzalez-Francis was holding two people hostage inside with a shotgun.

When troopers arrived, the hostages were able to leave safely, but Gonzalez-Francis remained inside. Worcester School was placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Authorities took Gonzalez-Francis into custody a little after 5 p.m. He's charged with unlawful imprisonment, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
