Fourteen alleged members of the 110 Gang in are now in custody — all facing RICO violations, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Federal prosecutors said the gang has been known for drug trafficking, robbery, and murder since 2012.

The gang is based out of the southwest side of Syracuse.

But federal agents say this is just one of many gangs they are trying to take off the streets.

"Let me be clear our work is not done here, we have a lot more work to do towards this investigation along with others in the community. We are here to say this is not a one-hit for the community. We have a presence here and we will continue to have a presence here," said Special Agent in Charge James Hendricks.

Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler was not in attendance for the announcement.

Deputy Chief Joe Cecile — one of three finalists to replace Fowler — was there instead.

Mayor Ben Walsh said these arrests should be a warning to other gangs in Syracuse. Cecile echoed that, and added there are far more options than crime for young people in the city.

"Being that there is another pathway, and more people took it than you see on this board," Cecile said, referring to the list of men indicted. "That's an important message as well. Take that pathway with the assistance and services provided, and you will not end up here. You will not end up in federal prison."
