SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Police have made an arrest after a stabbing in downtown Syracuse left a man critically injured Monday.

Officers found the victim along the 400 block of South Salina Street.

Investigators say a man in his 20s was stabbed in the neck.

Detectives arrested the suspect, 40-year-old John Fredette Jr.

He has been charged with assault and weapons possession.

Officers say Fredette was also wanted for failing to report as a sex offender.

Detectives are still looking for additional witnesses in that busy part of downtown.
