Alberto Reyes, the man arrested in connection with the death of a young mother on a Sodus farm, appeared in federal court Monday.

Reyes faces two charges, possession of a counterfeit SS—Registration card and unlawfully entering the U.S.

He was initially arrested last month after admitting to police he buried the body of his girlfriend Selena Hidalgo-Calderon, on that Joy Road farm. Her 14-month-old son Owen Hidalgo-Calderon is still missing. A search for the boy ended over the weekend.

These latest charges against Reyes were filed on Friday.

"The crime that we're looking at is where you're found in the United States, not where you came into the United States. Where he came in, we don't know, presumably it's on the Mexican border," Assistant U.S. Attorney Rick Resnick said.

Resnick says he can only comment on Reyes’ federal charges. Reyes is facing evidence tampering charges in Wayne County, where he is being held on $25,000.

Reyes is scheduled to appear back in court in August.
