Cal Harris, the Owego man who has stood trial four times for his wife's 2001 killing, was arrested Friday night for allegedly driving drunk on the highway.

Harris was driving on Interstate 81 near the town of Preble when he hit another car with his GMC Sierra pick-up truck, state police said. He continued driving before he was pulled over, according to authorities.

Harris registered a .13 blood alcohol content level, police said, and was issued tickets for driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property accident.

His tickets are due back in court on January 9, 2018.

In a statement to Spectrum News, Harris said he was the one who was hit by another driver, while on his way home from Destiny USA. But, he said he was the only one to receive a ticket.

Harris said the incident was recorded on his truck's dash cam.

Harris admitted to having a few drinks at the mall, but said it was over a 6-hour period, adding he believes medication he's currently taking caused the breathalizer results.

Since he was found not guilty in 2016 of Michele Harris' 2001 murder, Harris has faced a stalking charge in Oneonta for allegedly harassing and menacing a former state police investigator involved in his wife's homicide case.
