The long list of charges continue to pile up in the case of an abused 10-year-old in Oswego County.

Tuesday, the focus was on Shawn Whaley, who will face 13 counts. In the latest disturbing allegation, police say he duct taped and/or zip tied the victim's arms and legs against will, placing duct tape over her mouth and then inserting hot sauce in her mouth through a small hole in the tape.

He faces assault, coercion, unlawful imprisonment and several child endangerment counts. Whaley is scheduled to be in court December 1.

Whaley is one of five people to be charged in the case. Investigators say the victim was also forced to run with a heavy backpack while followed by a vehicle, being hit if she moved too slowly. She was also tied to the vehicle and dragged.

A separate indictment was also unsealed involving Gary Bubis Jr., but it was for a separate incident that happened in Albion. A grand jury handed up four counts, accusing him of rape in the first degree, rape in the third degree, sexual abuse in the first degree and unlawful imprisonment.

Prosecutors say Bubis forced a 22-year-old woman to have sex with him in an Albion home in 2014. He was already facing assault, unlawful imprisonment and several child endangerment charges in connection with the abuse of the 10-year-old.

Bubis was arraigned on those charges Monday.
