SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Firefighters rescue a pit bull during a morning fire in Syracuse.

Officials say a passerby called 911 about smoke coming from the Erie Street house around 9 a.m.

Firefighters say the fire sparked inside the walls on the first floor and made its way through the home.

They were able to put it out within about 20 minutes.

Officials say one person lives in the home, no one was hurt and the dog is being treated by a vet.

The cause is still under investigation.
