Amid more accusations of child sex abuse coverups by Catholic churches, state lawmakers are looking at ways to prevent cases moving forward. The Child Victims Act has been debated for years, partially because it would allow some victims to file civil lawsuits even if the statute of limitations had passed.

Senator Pat Gallivan is proposing another bill that would expand the statute of limitations for both criminal and civil cases, and make clergy members mandatory reporters.
