One of Governor Cuomo's policy proposals this year is to take guns away from those who are convicted of domestic abuse. But advocates say New York must go one step further, and require the removal of firearms at the scene of a domestic violence incident. They say often times people violate orders of protection and that is when deaths by abusive partners occurs.
