It's Black Friday, but Nicolle Broughton, owner of Troy's Blue Bird store, prefers to think of it as Small Business Saturday Eve. She's got high expectations for the day, anticipating it will be one of the busiest shopping days of the year for her store.

If Black Friday is all about treating yourself, the day after is about treating your community.

It's important for Troy, and especially important for business owners like Broughton, who started planning for Small Business Saturday and this holiday shopping period in July.

“It's literally everything for us," said Broughton.

For the shoppers who hit the stores early Saturday, there's even a holiday passport and free "Enjoy Troy" bag up for grabs. The city is also offering a free trolley service all day.
