The door to Gov. Andrew Cuomo running for president continues to be slammed shut by Cuomo himself.

“I’m ruling it out,” Cuomo said on Tuesday in an interview with Brian Lehrer on WNYC. “I ran for governor, I have a full plate, I have many projects – I’m going to be here doing the job of governor.”

Still, Cuomo believes the next Democratic nominee for president in 2020 should be someone with experience, someone who believes in getting results and not just the theoretical.

“Someone who I believe who will connect with working men and women,” Cuomo said.

In other words, someone who is like him, though not him.

“Nothing has changed in my calculus,” Cuomo said. “I have my own expectation about what candidate the Democratic Party needs to win. I think you’ll see a viable candidate in the field.”

Cuomo has shown little outward signs of launching a campaign. His public comments have not changed since Election Day and he’s also said a report that he’s reviewing potential staffers in Iowa was not true.
