Congressman John Faso and his Democratic challenger Antonio Delgado went head-to-head Tuesday night, as the latest poll puts them just one percentage point apart ahead of Election Day.

Faso and Delgado took on a variety of questions from health care and immigration to Delgado's past rapping career.

Discussion also touched on the impact of the farm bill, water quality protections, and taxes.

Both men agree high taxes are an issue across New York, though the pair disagrees on a solution.

Delgado says he'd push for middle and lower class tax cuts. Faso though would like to see them across the board.

"This is one of the reasons people leave upstate New York. Our taxes are so disproportionately higher. We aren't talking about comparisons to a state like Alabama or Mississippi. Look across the border to Massachusetts,” said Faso.

"It’s attached to big cash giveaways to big corporations and a wealthy few,” said Delgado. "How do we have a real tax bill that puts more money in the pockets of working and middle class folks that are not attached to giveaways to big corporations.”

Also an issue that has high impact for voters: the opioid epidemic.

Faso says he's working on stopping dangerous drugs from coming into the U.S.

Delgado says helping addicts is also key to combating drug abuse.

"Incarceration is far too often the treatment of choice,” he said. “We need to transition away from that type of treatment.”
