ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan testified at the Capitol, reiterating the city's need for extra state funding.
Sheehan is asking for $12.5 million to cover the city's budget deficit.
She argues the state should help because a large portion of the city's property is, in fact, state-owned, and 60 percent of property in Albany isn't taxable.
"We need to grow our tax base, and I believe we are making the right decisions and the right investments to do that, but we also need state funding that recognizes the unique and compelling position we have as the capital of New York State," Sheehan said.
Troy Mayor Patrick Madden also testified, calling for more money for infrastructure, especially after that massive water main break in Lansingburgh limited the water supply earlier this month.
