Colonie Police are investigating after a local art store was recently broken into. The owner of Arlene's Artist Materials says the store was robbed last week.
She says paints and paint supplies worth thousands of dollars were stolen. Arlene's has been in the Capital Region since the 1960s.
The owner says when she first found out about the break-in, she could not believe it.
"Honestly a little shocked because of how bizarre and random it was, [especially when looking at] what they stole," said Donna Garramone, owner of Arlene's Artist Materials.
Arlene's owner believes the crooks used store shopping baskets to collect their items.
Two of them were found on Dorlyn Road, a nearby residential street.
As Colonie Police continue to investigate this puzzling crime, Garramone has begun putting the pieces together herself, searching for clues on several websites.
“We’re checking resale places, Craigslist, Facebook," Garramone said.
Anyone who might have information on this is asked to call Colonie Police.
