A Troy police officer with a turbulent history with the department has been suspended.

Troy has settled four civil lawsuits against Officer Dominick Comitale, dating back years and including claims of excessive force.

According to attorney Lee Kindlon, who represented the plaintiffs in those claims, the settlements cost the city around $175,000.

He filed suit again earlier this month, on behalf of a man who says Comitale elbowed him at a little league game in North Greenbush this September while off-duty.

Comitale was hit with a violation charge for harassment.

Troy Police say their investigation into the incident is what drove them to suspend him.
