A massive convoy — around 175 trucks strong — rolled through Saratoga Springs on Sunday.

The mission? Delivering donated toys — for tots.

The fifth annual Saratoga Convoy for Tots rolled this weekend, launching from Ballston Spa over to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

Year in, year out, it's one of the biggest efforts in the Capital Region, gathering thousands of toys for kids in need across New York State.

Volunteers from local businesses, community groups, along with first responders, all pitched in to make the convoy a success again.

"I always try to take a little bit of time at Christmas, when my son is opening his gifts just to think about all those other families, whether it’s a mom or dad that doesn't have to worry or if it's a little boy or girl that gets the same joy that my son gets,” said Saratoga Sheriff's Director of Emergency Communications Steve Gordon.

Organizers of this year's Convoy for Tots hoped to break last year's record for donated toys, which was 22,000. They expect to have the new number by Monday.
