Tucked away in the historic district of Albany, Dove & Hudson is a book lover’s dream.

At the helm of it all is owner Dan Wedge, who has been curating the collection of used books for nearly 30 years.

"This is a place you can find something you didn’t even know you wanted until you see it,” said Wedge.

From the hand-written receipts to his purple dollar discount program, his homage to authenticity attracts bookworms from near and far.

"The best used book store in the whole city,” said one customer.

“It’s a small world, the book business, it’s a very small world,” Wedge said.

And on Small Business Saturday, the literary nook is the very thing that keeps business bustling.

"Money stays in the community and there is a sense of a relationship,” said Wedge.

He says the secret to that relationship is longevity.

Even in the digital age, the love of book collecting keeps his business thriving.

"If look at statistics, the sale of E-readers was supposed to be the death of the book and publishing, but their sales have declined," said Wedge.

He says the chapter on this tradition is far from fully written.

"I'm 70 years old and will continue doing this for as long as I can continue doing this", said Wedge.
